Writers and tourism
I believe that Salem’s tourism and PR should be determined by the people who live and work there.
As the author of The Ghosts of Salem, Massachusetts, I’m a researcher and writer, period.
People read my books to plan visits and vacations. As a travel writer, I advise people about
- hotels
- restaurants
- attractions and historical sites
- tours
- shopping.
For my book about Salem, Massachusetts, I’m starting with existing stories about Salem’s ghosts and “haunted” places. Through mid-2009, I’ll research each story and rumor. That includes personal visits, interviews, and historical research.
In my book and in travel articles, I’ll report what I find. I’ll describe the ghost stories and their historical roots.
I’ll also share my best advice for great vacations in and around “Witch City.”
I’m a travel writer, not a policy maker. Salem’s tourism decisions are best made by those who live and work in Salem.
